ERIC + DANAE | Indiana Summer Wedding

Eric and Danae’s Indiana Summer wedding in the country was such a lighthearted, joyful day!  I have known Eric and his family for years, so when he asked me to be their wedding photographer, I was so excited and honored to get to photograph their day!! The first photos in their collection we got the night before, after their rehearsal dinner.  I knew we wouldn’t be able to get photos at the same time while the sun was setting on their actual wedding day and since I had them both, my camera, and a really gorgeous sunset, I asked them if we could do a mini sunset session, and they obliged!

THEN CAME THE BIG DAY!

We started with Bride and Bridesmaid portraits.

After Bride and bridesmaid portraits, I sent the girls in to take a break, freshen up, and cool off a bit (it was a pretty warm day) while we did the Groom and Groomsmen Portraits.

There is something about the bride and groom having those moments together before the ceremony to see each other for the first time on their wedding day that is almost magical.  First looks are literally one of my absolute favorite parts of being a wedding photographer, and was one of my favorite parts of my own wedding day too.  Eric and Danae’s first look was no less fantastic.

Eric and Danae wanted their parents to be there for their first look, so Danae and her parents headed out first, and Eric and his parents followed a few minutes later.

The End.  But also (are you ready for some cheese?) The Beginning. ❤

Eric and Danae, thanks for giving me the honor of photographing your wedding day.  It was sweet, meaningful, and God-honoring and I know your marriage will be the the same.

love,

anna

LYDIA | Fort Wayne Newborn Photography

The Rivera family were nothing short of a joy to work with.  From our very first Instagram messages to when I left the photo shoot which we held at their beautiful home, I was thankful to be able to photograph their sweet daughter, Lydia.  In these photos, Lydia was only 3 1/2 days old, with a full head of hair, and already a natural model.  She slept (or at least stayed very calm) throughout almost the whole session, but there’s one photo of her crying that I couldn’t resist to put into the collection because even that was cute.

Some of my favorite photos from this session include Lydia holding her mom’s fingers, her brother leaning down to kiss her, and the family photos where you can clearly see that everyone is already smitten with the newest addition to their family.  Lydia’s grandmother was there for our shoot as well, and we got a 3 generation shot of her grandmother and mother adoring her.

One thing I always try to do in my photography is focus on the details, because details inherently tell great stories in the most genuine way. I love that with photos, I can capture an image of the details of a certain moment in time, and preserve not only those details, but the emotion and the feeling of those moments for years and years to come as well.  In newborn sessions, I try to focus on two kinds of details: 1. the details that make them who they are and that will probably last their whole life (profile, eyes, little mannerisms or faces they make that they will continue to do as they get older) and 2. the details that will be gone very soon since babies change and grow so quickly (the smallness of their hands and feet, chubby cheeks, their feet crossed around each other).  I tried to capture the sweet, comfortable mood of our photo shoot through these details in Lydia’s newborn photos below.  Enjoy!

G R A C E + J E S S E | Country Chic Indiana Wedding

Grace and Jesse’s sweet summer wedding was a mix of Country, Vineyard, and Chic.  Although it wasn’t actually held on a vineyard, Stillwater Retreat in Yoder, Indiana’s wide open field in which they held their ceremony, beautiful little clearings surrounded by trees where we took our bride and groom portrait photos, and stonework in the lodge where the reception was held was a really beautiful adaptation of the photos Grace shared of her vision for their wedding.  As stressful as it can be to plan a wedding, Grace and Jesse’s family rose to the occasion to see that every possible detail was taken care of and made beautiful.

Jesse and Grace’s ceremony was scheduled to begin at 2:00 and since I had talked them into doing a first look (and I’m so glad they trusted me and did it!), we had to take most of our photos in the middle of the day in 90 degree weather with very few clouds in the sky.  Fortunately, most of the super harsh light was diffused by trees and the heat we just tried to ignore as much as possible.  Guys.  Their first look was goose-bump inducing.  I shared a photo on Instagram about how even editing their first look photos was making me emotional! The moment of seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day was so powerful, genuine and priceless.  It’s such an honor to get an up-close view of first looks through my lens.  Of course the rest of Jesse and Grace’s wedding was delightful too!  Here are some of my favorite shots from their wedding day!  Enjoy!
