JORDAN + KRISTI | Warren, Indiana Summer Wedding

Kristi and Jordan’s beautiful and sweet summer wedding in Warren, Indiana was such a delight to be able to photograph!  From the Church sign congratulating them on their wedding to the hilarious last pose of our full bridal party shots, this wedding was such a fun one to be a part of!

This wedding ended up having a lot of fantastic photo locations!  The sanctuary where the ceremony was held had such warm, glowy light, and the weather was perfect the entire day (even though the weather predictions were not very optimistic).  The location where Jordan and Kristi had their First Look and we did our full bridal party portraits could not have been more perfect and I explain the story behind it a little more around the First Look portion of the post!

I’m excited for you to see these pictures, so let’s get into the Bowlds Wedding Album!

I love it when venues congratulate a bride and groom on their sign!

We started with portraits of the Groom and his men since they were ready a little before the Bride and maids were.

One thing I love about First Looks is that they are so candid and every bit of excitement and joy you see on Kristi and Jordan’s faces is completely real.  After the first look, we took some bride and groom portraits really beautiful location I had found beforehand! A few days before the wedding, I hopped onto google maps to take a virtual tour of Warren since I had never been there before.  I found a little clearing that intrigued me, but google wouldn’t let me look at it very closely, so before the wedding, I drove to the spot I had found, discovered that it was the perfect, private spot for our photos, and got permission to use it!  It turned out to be the perfect little spot, and the weather even cooperated with us!  It was overcast while we took these!

We all headed back to the church and got ready for the ceremony!  The sanctuary was beautifully well lit, and had a warm, and glowy feel that couldn’t have been more perfect for exchanging wedding vows!

Jordan and Kristi,

You two are so obviously in love, your friends and family know it and the beauty of your wedding certainly reflected it as well!  I’m so glad I got to capture so many memories for you from your wedding day and I’m excited for your adventure ahead!

M E G A N | Fort Wayne Senior Photography | Summer Session

Meet Megan!  Megan is a 2017 Senior who also happens to be my cousin’s daughter, which technically (I’ve googled, to be sure) makes her my first cousin once removed.  Fun fact: the correct way to address your cousin’s children is niece or nephew, even though you’re a form of cousin (I think we’ll just stick with first names here).

Megan is a 4 Season Senior, meaning that we’ll be doing one Senior Photography Session in every season of her senior year!  I love the idea of documenting each season of a senior’s last year of high school with photos they can always look back on.  Since it’s such a time of change and transitions (and I’m such a sucker for nostalgia), I think the ability to have a snapshot of each season from such an important year can be such a priceless thing to have!

With this being Megan’s summer session, we wanted to make sure to take full advantage of the vibrant greens and golden colors that summer brings with it- especially during golden hour (basically an hour before the sun sets, when it gives off a really pretty, warm light).  I also loved the colors Megan chose to wear for these photos!  They played so well with the natural colors that were already all around us!

We started our session in a field behind a white barn and ended it on a nearby bridge over one of Fort Wayne’s 3 main rivers.  The sun was in a perfect spot behind some trees nearby for most of our session, and in some of these shots, it came through and brought some nice warmth and even a few sun flares with it! This session was a lot of fun and I’m really excited for our fall session coming up in a bout a month or so.  Stay tuned! But for now, here are some of my favorites from Megan’s summer session!  Enjoy!

O H A N A | Fort Wayne Summer Newborn Session

Ohana’s newborn session was extra special for me, because I was her parent’s wedding photographer, AND their wedding was my first as ‘the‘ photographer!!!  The Berrys have such a sweet family dynamic and besides being an adorable baby, Ohana seems to be the perfect little puzzle piece addition to it.

Although the sky was looking a little iffy the day of our shoot, we held this session in the Berry’s backyard and planned to move inside to their living room when it started raining, but the weather cooperated the whole time and almost as soon as I got into my car to leave at the end, it started pouring!  I was so thankful for the perfect timing.

I like to hold newborn photo sessions at the family’s home for two reasons: 1. usually the baby is very young (under 2 weeks old) and I want to make it a little easier on the parents not to have to pack up and bring their whole family to a different location (not to mention if we need anything extra because a prop was forgotten or baby has an accident while we were shooting without a diaper on) and 2. holding the session at their home makes the photos all the more meaningful with the house and yard being the very first home of the newborn and the place where the family will make some of their first memories together.  The Berrys have a cute little home with a nice, green, backyard which worked really well for taking photos!  Here are some of my favorites from our session. Enjoy!

This sash draped on Ohana’s head and body as well as the dress she’s laying on were both worn by her mom, Olivia on her wedding day!  I absolutely love meaningful props like this!

I experimented with making a little lace crown for the shoot and it turned out alright! I’m excited to try making different colored ones because they can be so cute!

Ohana’s big brother, Malachi, was fairly co-operative for the full family picture! Especially when I promised to show him the photos afterword (the words “Jolly” and “Rancher” might have been thrown around too but he was pretty excited to see his photo)! This tends to be a trend with young kids I’ve gotten photos of!  If you’ve got shy or rambunctious kids who don’t want to pose for a picture, snap a photo of them real quick, bring it over for them to see, and tell them that if they smile nicely, you’ll let them see the photo again!  Also, tell them (over and over again) how pretty/handsome they are! 9/10 times, they LOVE it.  And if not, then there’s always Jolly Ranchers 😉

Berrys, thanks for giving me the honor of getting Ohana’s newborn photos and capturing pictures of your little tribe!  I’m excited for all the things to come for the four of you!
